ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

WASCAL offers 10 scholarships per Batch, one each for the participating countries (Nigeria, Bénin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Sénégal, and Togo). The following is required of the candidates seeking admission into the programme MTech Climate Change and Adapted Land Use:

(i) Qualification

(a) Five O' Level credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics and any twoof the following relevant subjects (Geography, Agricultural Science/Biology, Economics)or its equivalent in Francophone countries (baccalaureat C or D);

(b) The Master's programme would be conducted in English. Therefore, it is required that the francophone applicants MUST pass a proficiency test in English language e.g. TOEFL (60% and above)

(c) First Degree (B.Tech. or B.Sc.) with a minimum of 2nd Class Upper Degree (or Assez Bien for the Francophone applicants) from Institutions recognised by the Federal University of Technology, Minna; in any discipline related to the environment (most especially geography, agriculture, land resources, water resources and climate science);

(d) For Nigerian applicants, NYSC Certificate/Exemption is required; and

(e) Candidates must provide 3 referees: from first degree project supervisor, head of department of your first degree, if employed, a letter from immediate supervisor/boss, or any other relevant personnel.

PROGRAMME DURATION AND STRUCTURE:

(a) The Master of Technology programme will run on full-time basis ONLY. The duration of the programme is twenty four months (24);

(b) This excludes the three months english language course organised for students from francophone countries at University of Cape Coast, Ghana; and french language course organised for students from anglophone countries in the University of Lome (Togo);

(c) A three months period is dedicated to language (french and english) and common courses (Remote Sensing and GIS; Geostatistics/Advanced statistics; Climate Change impacts, adaptation and mitigation; research methodology; and Atmospheric Science and Climate Systems) will be taught during the three months period organised for language course;

(d) The programme shall run on a course unit system and shall be examined by both course work and by research. Each academic session will consist of two semesters of 15 weeks each for teaching and two weeks each for examination;

(e) In order to widen the scope of knowledge of these students, faculty and external experts would be invited to make presentations on topical climate change issues, among others, which not just the students would benefit from, but the University community as a whole.
