The WASCAL Governing Board, led by the Chairman, Professor Mouhamadou Hassirou, held their meeting for the first time in Abuja, Nigeria and decided to come for a working visit to one of its Graduate Schools in Nigeria, WASCAL CC&HH in Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, accompanied by a representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja, being the WASCAL Focal Ministry in Nigeria.

This working visit coincided with the planned commemoration of the 10^th anniversary (2012 – 2022) of WASCAL in FUT Minna. The visit afforded WASCAL in FUT Minna the opportunity to appreciate all stakeholders who had participated in the programme in the following different capacities by awarding them with a Certificate of Participation as:

1. Lecturers
2. Supervisors
3. FUT Minna Academic / Advisory Board members
4. International Academic / Advisory Board members
5. Former Staff of WASCAL in FUT Minna

The FUT Minna based staff (60) collect the certificate(s) in person, as any or more than one of the above stakeholders. Others who were not FUT Minna based joined online but their certificates of Participation were sent to them, over 100 beneficiaries.

The following eminent personalities were also recognized and given awards for their contributions to the growth of WASCAL in FUT, Minna:

1. Muhammed S. Audu: the former 5th Vice-Chancellor of FUT Minna under whose tenure the WASCAL programme commenced in FUT, Minna.
2. Musbau Akanji: the former 6^th-Chancellor of FUT Minna who ensured the firm foundation for the WASCAL programme implementation.
3. Abdullahi Bala: the former 7th Vice-Chancellors of FUT Minna under whose tenure the CC&HH curriculum was approved.
4. Mouhamadou Hassirou: WASCAL Governing Board Chair for his encouragement to WASCAL stakeholders which includes FUT, Minna.
5. Moumini Savadogo: WASCAL Executive Director for his purposeful and Visionary leadership.
6. Gabin Ananou: Manager of WASCAL SASSCAL in Germany
7. Enoch Bessah: A WASCAL CC&ALU Alumni who had distinguished himself.

Others equally awarded were:

8. WASCAL: Pacesetting leadership in Climate Change Capacity Building in Africa since 2012.

A congratulatory message and personalized card were presented by the Chairman of the WASCAL Governing Board to Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta; on his appointment as the 8^th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

Ministries and agencies whose mandates had Climate Change adaptation and mitigation inclusive, in Minna, Niger State, were invited; and those notably present and represented during the ceremony were:

1. Ministry of Land and Survey Minna, Niger state.
2. Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources Minna, Niger state.
3. Rural Access Mobility and Marketing Project (RAMMP) Minna, Niger state.

As part of the 10^th-anniversary celebration to keep the environment clean, thirteen (13) Industrial waste bins were unveiled for utilization on campus by the Governing Board. Beneficiaries of the bins were the University’s Senate building, Health Services (UHS) in Gidan Kwano campus, the Students’ Affairs Division and Offices of the Deans in each of the ten including the Postgraduate School.

The Governing Board members visited the WASCAL CCHH in FUT Minna to see the facilities for themselves and interact with students and staff. We could not let our August Visitors leave us without having a taste of Nigerian jollof rice, amongst other typical local meals and were entertained by the Gwape Cultural Troupe before their departure back to Abuja. It was a great day, a unique and huge privilege, enjoyed by WASCAL in FUT Minna.
